Chery accidentally builds its most appealing SUV yet

New cars Newsish

Chery has unveiled the TI-NO 4 CSH, a stripped-back version of its Chery Tiggo 4 as part of an April Fool’s gag.

On paper, it’s the one nobody wants. No heated mirrors, no electric windows, no leather, no alloys – just the basics and a price tag that reflects the spec.

And yet… it’s the first Chery that has caught Petrolblog’s eye since the Mk1 SEAT Toledo-based Fulwin of 1999. Google it – it’s highly desirable.

Finished in white with black bumpers, black door handles and black steelies, the TI-NO 4 CSH gives off proper ‘Tesco Value’ vibes in a market obsessed with premium nonsense. It looks like it’s been specified by someone who skipped the configurator and clicked ‘buy it now’.

In other words, it’s the Dacia Sandero Access of 2026. And that’s a good thing.

It’s aimed at buyers who want a ‘lesser specification to stay with the brand’, according to head of reduction Joe King – which, along with the name and that number plate, tells you everything you need to know. The only part of the joke that doesn’t quite land is the price, because £21,995 feels expensive when we still remember the £5,995 Sandero.

But here’s the thing: strip away the gimmicks and the TI-NO 4 CSH starts to make a lot of sense. Less visual fuss, less to go wrong, and probably a bit cheaper to run when the novelty of heated everything has worn off. It even has a seven-year warranty – although this is likely to expire at noon on 1 April.

As April Fool’s jokes go, this feels slightly misjudged.

Because this is the one we’d have.
