Czech mates: Can we save this Škoda Fabia vRS for my son?

A 2007 Škoda Fabia vRS has arrived at Petrolblog HQ, donated by a friend in the village and promoted to project car status.

The plan is simple: find out what it needs, fix what needs doing for the MOT, and see whether this diesel hot hatch hero can become a reliable daily driver for my eldest son. We'll also take it back to Scotland for a proper road trip.

In this first episode, Matt joins me for the start of the project as we take a look around the car, explain why the original Fabia vRS still matters, plug in an OBD reader, and begin working out whether saving it is a sensible idea. What's the worst that can happen?
