The 2025 Vauxhall Frontera is available with white steel wheels. That's it. That's the blog post. Nothing else needs to be said, aside from praise be to the glory of white steelies.
Petrolblog hasn't been this excited about a new Vauxhall since Lotus did mad things with a Carlton. The news is likely to be of interest to those who fancy driving a 4x4 up Snowdon. Not that Petrolblog condones such actions.
The new Frontera sees the return of a name that disappeared in 2004. But now it's back as a hybrid or electric SUV that's closely related to the Citroën C3 Aircross. If you fancy reading a view, Autocar is a good place to start.
It's where I discovered the news about the white steel wheels. Don't they look magnificent?
Doing a little digging on the Vauxhall website, which is something I haven't done since the company axed the Meriva VXR, I found out that they're available on the entry-level Design model and are fitted in conjunction with a white roof. Yours for just £400 or, to put it another way, £100 a wheel plus a free white roof.
As James Attwood points out, they give the Frontera a ‘neat mini-Defender vibe’. But while the ‘cheapest’ Land Rover Defender costs £57,500, a Frontera in Design spec costs £23,495, regardless of whether you choose the hybrid or electric version.
Make sure you do the right thing and choose Khaki Green for that cut-price Defender look.
There is one catch: Khaki Green metallic paint costs £700, and that's before you've added £400 for the white steelies and white roof combo. The cost edges you closer to the plush GS model with its extra equipment and seven-seat option on the hybrid model.
In a curious move, the white steelies are not available on the GS model. It's also worth noting that the Design comes with 16-inch steelies as standard, but they're hidden behind a set of wheel covers. Release the steelies, Vauxhall.
Yes, I'm waffling; I just need to write enough text to justify using this many photos of the Frontera in all its white steelies majesty. If you're going to £25k on a new Frontera, make sure you do the white thing – Petrolblog will thank you for it.
