Shatchback Calendar 2013
It seems as though you can get a calendar for just about anything these days. Walk into a shop during the run up to Christmas and you'll be greeted by a selection of calendars to suit all tastes. If you like firefighters, kittens, kittens being rescued by firefighters, Cliff Richard, New Kids Take Direction 17, Top Gear or Jordan Price, you're pretty much sorted. But as far as I'm aware, there's never been a calendar for Shatchbacks. Until now...
If I'd have sorted myself out last year, there would have been a Shatchback calendar for 2012. But I didn't. So there isn't.
Instead, it's time to plan for 2013 and thanks to the input of James Winstanley (@JWinstanley), I have a cunning plan as to how it will work. And this is where the readers of PetrolBlog come in.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to snap Shatchbacks. That's right, if you're out and about and see an automotive afterthought, whip out your iAndBerry or camera and take a photo. The best 12 will be chosen for the Shatchback 2013 calendar.
What's in it for you? Well, anyone who submits a photo that makes it on to the calendar will receive a copy of the calendar absolutely free. It's often said that the best things in life are free and this just about proves that theory. Naturally you'll also receive a full credit for the shot. A few calendars will also be given away a couple to loyal fans of PetrolBlog on Facebook and twitter, as well as the followers of @MajorGav. Depending on the number of photos submitted, I'll also endeavour to showcase each and every Shatchback captured.
The precise format of the calendar is still to be decided, (offers of a graphic design nature will be gratefully accepted), but it will happen. Yes, the demand will be small, but surely a Shatchback calendar is more appealing than one of Alan Titchmarsh. Or Ann Widdecombe?
You can email your photos to shatchback@petrolblog.com, or post them on twitter using the #Shatchback hashtag. Photos can also be posted on PetrolBlog's Facebook wall. Just make sure that all entries are received by the 31st August 2012.

The PetrolBlog team will choose the best entries in September. We're looking for variety of models, interesting locations and good humour. We don't tend to take things too seriously here. Just don't get into any trouble taking the photos!
So that's that. Whether you're in southern Europe, South America, Southend or Southampton, it's time to go hunting Shatchbacks. Keep your eyes peeled for those booted horrors.
But please, don't have nightmares. PetrolBlog takes no responsibility for photographic equipment damaged as a result of Shatchback snapping.
