The 406 Coupé to get the full Rustec rust-proofing treatment
The Peugeot 406 Coupé has left the building. Not forever, but following its Dutch trip, it's currently enjoying a bit of R&R in Wiltshire, in the safe hands of Rustec.
Having seen how quickly a 406 Coupé can deteriorate in Devon, and with the advice of the MOT tester still lodged in my mind, I got in touch with Rustec to enquire about the premium rust-proofing treatment. Once complete, it should emerge with one of the best undersides in the country and protection against the ravages of the British climate.
The treatment includes an extensive rust removal, conversion and treatment service, followed by a high-pressure cavity wax injection to seal the internal surfaces. Rustec reckons it can increase the value of a car by an average of 20 percent, while lowering the general maintenance costs. If this goes well, I'll look into sending every car on the fleet to Wiltshire.
First impressions are excellent. The welcome upon arrival was friendly and efficient, the initial underbody inspection was positive, and the online reviews are encouraging. The team will send regular updates as the Peugeot progresses through the various stages, including full photo documentation of the processes. It's surprisingly exciting!
