The PetrolBlog Green Car of the Year 2010 is...Steed's Jaguar XJ12C from the New Avengers!
Yes indeed, some 34 years after appearing on our television screens, Patrick Macnee trusty steed, (can you see what I did there?), has delivered a V12-shaped hammer blow to the hybrid and electric car fraternity. The British Racing Green 5.3 litre V12 delight was, I believe, loaned to the production team by British Leyland as part of a publicity drive. Well over three decades later, the fact that it is still capable of picking up an award shows that the PR worked. PetrolBlog doffs its cap to you British Leyland. Well you and everyone else who voted for it!
Sadly nobody from Jaguar, British Leyland or the New Avengers were available to collect the award so I suggest we all raise a glass to the next V12 Jaguar we see on the streets.
And in case you were wondering, the top five were:
1. JAGUAR XJ12C - 16.28%
2. PORSCHE 911 CARRERA - 13.95%
3. LANCIA STRATOS - 11.63%
-- FORD CAPRI 280 - 11.63%
5. LAND ROVER SERIES/90/110/DEFENDER - 9.3%
Thanks again for voting. Look out for more #greencarsrock entries in 2011 a chance to vote for your favourite. Also, well done to Andrew Smalley for winning the 'money can't buy' prize bundle.
