Hello, PetrolBlog is back on the road
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]If it’s good enough for Harold Bishop, it’s good enough for PetrolBlog. That doesn’t mean we’re going to wander the streets as a Salvation Army volunteer, with no memory of our former life, but it does mean we’re coming back.
A year since PB was placed on bricks and covered in a cloak of Grandma’s old curtains, the home of motoring waffle and bunk is returning to your desktops and tablets, blinking as it sees the light of day for the first time in 12 months.
Sadly, we didn’t put ourselves in a barn, so you can’t stick us in a white studio to take a few photos, before advertising us as a barn-find, complete with a six-figure sum. Well, you could try, but we’re unlikely to fetch more than a few quid and a packet of KP Skips.
What can you expect from PetrolBlog: The Return? We’re not about to emerge from the shower, Bobby Ewing-style, but you can expect more of the same. This means a healthy dollop of cars from the 70s, 80s and 90s, a sprinkling of a new metal, and a side order of grilled waffle.
We’ll continue to occupy a niche, happy with our place on the fringes of the interweb. We won’t be rehashing press releases, chasing hits or aiming to become an influencer. And we won’t be over-sharing our stuff via social channels. Think of PB as that little-known coffee shop away from the tourist trail. We’re happy to be the little guy.
What's new?
Following some advice from Bryan Ferry, we figured we should try the Same... Old...Scene. Which means you can look forward to more #FrenchTat, Shatchbacks and the cars the majority of people are trying to forget. The 'Whatever happened to..?' series is back by popular demand, and we're introducing a new feature imaginatively titled 'It's time to appreciate the...'.
There's a new Garage section where you can keep tabs on the PetrolBlog fleet, a Shop where you can buy things and a new thing called CarPARK. More on this soon. Oh, and PB is about to be joined by a new sister website. Contain yourself.
As for fresh waffle and bunk, here are some words to devour:
Whatever happened to the Renault 6?
The Barn is back and it's been reloaded
It's time to appreciate the Hyundai Matrix
Skoda Favorit saved from the scrapheap is a brilliant first car
The Little Chef is dead and that makes me sad
We hope you like the new site design. We wanted something old, without being overly retro. Something clean, without being too simple. A design that allows the copy to breathe, not suffocated by advertising, pop-ups, video players and fluff.
You can support PetrolBlog by sharing our stuff on social media, buying some tat from the shop or donating a few quid via the homepage. Alternatively, you can simply pay us to go away.
If you like what you read, feel free to leave some small change on your way out. The church spire fund can wait another day, and we’re sure you can go without one overpriced takeaway coffee a week.
Thanks for waiting. We promise to keep on keepin’ on.
Has anyone seen the jump leads?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
