Dunlop Tyres advert: Sept 1986

Major Waffle 80s cars
PetrolBlog stumbles across an old magazine advert for Dunlop Tyres. The question is: can you name the six cars from the look of their alloy wheels?

A mid-80s press advert for Dunlop Tyres featuring six very red cars of the period. So the colour of the cars and the boots they wear are not in question. But what are the six cars?

PetrolBlog has, somewhat haphazardly, removed the references to the make and models of the featured cars. Without reverting to the loft, who can name the exact make and model of each car, with only the wheel and front wing to go by? According to the Dunlop ad copy, these represent “some of the world's finest cars”, but just how many are still burning rubber in 2010?

24 hours later and only five of the six cars could be identified. Well done to @jonbradbury and @Petrolheed for getting the famous five. But what was the sixth? Middle left was the stickler. All is revealed here:

Top right: Nissan Sylvia Turbo

Middle left: Toyota Celica 2.0 GT (the one that got away!)

Bottom left: MG Metro Turbo

Bottom right: Mazda 626 2.0 EGI

Amazing to see the prices from 1986. The Audi 200 weighed in at near enough the price of a 944 Turbo. Meanwhile, the rallying legend Celica was pretty much half the price of the 944.
