Dawn Refuelling: Run to the Castle
A few weeks ago, PetrolBlog introduced the Pentillie Festival of Speed. It's fair to say we're getting quite excited about it. The prospect of a hillclimb, retro and classic cars, 4x4 driving and even a few supercars is enough to excite any petrolhead. But having spoken to the team behind the event this week, I know there's going to be so much more. PetrolBlog is even planning one or two surprises of its own.
We've also decided to relaunch Dawn Refuelling for 2012. You may recall we got up early last July and braved the elements for a quick blast around West Devon. Details of the first event can be found here.
The highlight for 2012 will be a 'Run to the Castle' for the Pentillie Festival of Speed. Exact details are still being decided, but it's likely to involve an early meeting somewhere in Devon, followed by a sprint across the Cornish border, finishing at Pentillie Castle. Naturally, it will take in some of the best drivers' roads the region has to offer.
To prepare for the event, we're planning to test the route on Saturday 14th April 2012.
Sadly, as last year's event proved, we can't guarantee good weather, but we can guarantee bacon sandwiches and coffee at the end of the route. It's also a great opportunity to see Pentillie Castle and, most importantly, the first glimpse of the hillclimb itself.
The date also happens to coincide with the week we're having a new Suzuki Swift Sport on review. Good times.
More details to follow, but if the sound of waking up at the crack of dawn, meeting in a deserted car park and driving across near-empty roads sounds appealing, watch this space.

UPDATE: 11th April 2012
Meeting at Sourton Down services, opposite the Shell garage just off the A30 near Okehampton. Meet at 7am with a view to getting away by 7.15. Will then drive to Pentillie Castle, via some good roads, for bacon sandwiches and coffee at the Castle. More information and updates via the PetrolBlog Facebook page.
Thanks.
